Oliver Sacks has died at the age of 82, in New York
Oliver Sacks, who wrote the book 'Awakenings' inspired movie makers to make a movie and has been reported dead of cancer in his own home in New York city.
In February Oliver Sacks wrote about his illness and becoming face to face with dying.
Awakenings was very much Olive's account of how he brought somebody back to life, after they spent years badly of an illness.
There was a film version that starred Robert De Niro and Robin Williams, they then was nominated for 3 different awards.
Oliver was born originally in London but moved to New York in later life, and was an author of many other great books. Many were about medical conditions. Including 'The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat and The Island Of The Colorblind.'
